Lynette Hooker's mother claims Brian Hooker was untruthful regarding her daughter's disappearance.

Mother Questions Husband’s Account of Daughter’s Disappearance

Months after Lynette Hooker vanished in the Bahamas, her mother is disputing her husband Brian Hooker’s account of the events surrounding her disappearance.

Lynette, a Michigan woman, went missing while on vacation with her husband in April. She was reported missing on April 4 after the couple was on a boat near Elbow Cay in the Abaco Islands.

According to Brian, Lynette fell off their dinghy at night and was swept away by the current as they made their way to their yacht, named Soulmate.

So far, Lynette’s body has not been found.

Now, Lynette’s mother, Darlene Hamlett, has expressed her belief that her daughter encountered her “soulmate” again before going missing. “She got back on the boat and there was a foul,” Hamlett shared, although she didn’t explain how she reached that conclusion and noted that she was limited in what she could publicly discuss.

As a mother, she mentioned, “It’s taking longer than I expected, but the Coast Guard told me to say so. That’s all I have to say.”

The U.S. Coast Guard Bureau of Investigation has declined to comment on Hamlett’s statements, stating, “We cannot comment on an ongoing investigation.”

Fox News Digital contacted Brian Hooker’s attorney for a statement, but there has been no immediate response.

Hamlett’s remarks followed U.S. Coast Guard investigators’ trip to the Bahamas last month, where they conducted underwater searches in the Sea of Abaco and a land search using cadaver dogs to find Lynette.

The investigators also returned to the U.S. with the dinghy Lynette was reportedly in, which is set to undergo further forensic analysis for potential evidence.

Initially, Brian Hooker told investigators that he and Lynette were boating at night when she fell from the small dinghy and was swept away.

Authorities reported that Brian claimed Lynette had the dinghy’s ignition key when she went overboard, leaving her to row back to shore.

Following Lynette’s disappearance, Brian posted on Facebook, expressing his heartbreak. “I am heartbroken by the recent boating accident in which my beloved Lynette fell from a small dinghy near Elbow Cay in the Bahamas in unpredictable seas and high winds,” he wrote. He added, “Despite our desperate attempts to get closer to her, the wind and currents have pushed us further apart. We continue to search for her, and that is my only focus.”

After being questioned by Bahamian authorities, Brian Hooker returned to the U.S. and has not made any public appearances or statements since. He has neither been charged with a crime nor accused of any wrongdoing.
