Seattle Warehouse Fire Responded to by Firefighters
Early Wednesday morning, Seattle firefighters tackled a substantial three-alarm fire at a commercial warehouse located in the industrial section of the city, which occurred almost a day after another fire erupted in the nearby Central District.
The incident began shortly before 1 a.m. in the 4500 block of 7th Avenue S. Officials reported that the flames had ignited two tractor-trailers before spreading to the warehouse itself, as noted in a press briefing held near the scene.
Authorities discovered several large metal and plastic barrels within a trailer and surrounding the building, which led them to approach the fire from a safe distance. However, upon a more thorough evaluation, Cuerpo revealed that the barrels were empty.
Firefighters noted that at around 1:15 a.m., a portion of the warehouse roof collapsed, which complicated access for the firefighting teams. Fortunately, by around 3:22 a.m., the fire was brought under control with no injuries reported. Cuerpo remarked during a statement that an investigation into the fire is ongoing.
This incident followed another fire that took place on Tuesday morning at a commercial building on E. Madison Street, about a 20-minute drive away. That fire started around 3:22 a.m. and was extinguished by roughly 5:30 a.m.
As for the recent warehouse fire, no injuries were reported, and Cuerpo confirmed in the morning conference that the cause was identified as accidental.
