The Disney World ride “It’s a Small World” turned chaotic on Wednesday when a fire reportedly broke out during a morning tour.
Video footage captured inside the attraction showed cast members rushing to handle the situation as the boat floated through the scene.
A TikTok user, @Coach Bragg, shared a clip where a Disney staff member was seen using a fire extinguisher to tackle smoke on the ride. Another user, who goes by “lowkey.lilyana15,” also posted footage from the event.
The video’s poster mentioned that the staff acted swiftly, noting, “Disney cast members acted quickly to put out a small fire!”
Reports suggest that the incident might have been triggered by a guest’s cell phone charger igniting in a bag during the ride.
One viewer defended the ride, asserting, “It was a guest’s portable charger that exploded. It’s not Disney or the ride’s fault. Sure, you can criticize them for a lot, but not this…”
Another TikTok commenter, Hannah, claimed her family was involved, explaining that her child had a new magnetic portable charger in a bag between their legs when it ignited, leading to an evacuation.
A viral comment from someone claiming to be a Disney cast member supported these accounts, saying that the ride itself was unharmed: “This is correct. The SW commercial is here! Everyone is safe, including the ride itself.”
Disney has yet to officially confirm what caused the fire, and inquiries have been made to Walt Disney World for more information.
This incident comes in the wake of several ride suspensions and mishaps at Disneyland in California recently, which have left guests stranded and exposed to the inner workings of attractions.
For instance, on May 27th, the Haunted Mansion ride stalled just before closing, trapping guests in a graveyard scene for some time. Riders indicated they were instructed to stay seated while staff devised an evacuation plan, ultimately switching on the lights to aid their exit.
Passengers reported waiting in the lit area for several minutes until they received guidance on how to manually free themselves from their restraints.
In another recent event at Disneyland, footage obtained by TMZ revealed that a 13-year-old boy fell over a waterfall at Tiana’s Bayou Adventure while trying to exit just before a steep drop. Following the incident, the ride was promptly canceled.
The boy was evaluated at a nearby hospital but was later released. Officials stated that Cal/OSHA inspected the attraction, allowing it to reopen the following Monday without issues.
