Shooting in Minneapolis Church Leaves Community in Shock

A 13-year-old boy is among the 17 people injured in a shooting that took place at Annunciation Catholic Church in Minneapolis on Wednesday morning. The shooter, identified as Robin Westman, who identified as a trans woman, opened fire during a back-to-school event filled with children around 8:30 a.m.

Endre Gunter was shot in the stomach when Westman fired bullets through a stained glass window, tragically killing his mother in the process. In a statement, Endre expressed his feelings about the incident.

Endre’s mother, Daniel, revealed that her son was targeted while praying with classmates at the church. She shared that Endre underwent surgery and is currently on the mend.

As parents rushed to be by their son’s side, they offered support, prayed with him, and expressed gratitude towards the compassionate Minneapolis police officer who assisted during the chaotic scene.

“He said the officers hugged him, reassured him, and prayed with him before he was taken to the ambulance,” Daniel noted.

The family is now focused on aiding Endre as he navigates the trauma, aiming to help him regain his trust and confidence.

“We hope that anyone affected by this tragedy can find the strength to start rebuilding,” she added.

Tragically, two children, aged 8 and 10, lost their lives in the incident.

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara reported that 14 of the injured are children ranging from six to 15 years old, along with three elderly parishioners in their 80s. Thankfully, all victims are expected to survive.

Westman, aged 23, was found deceased at the scene from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
