A Gulf Cartel gunman fleeing from police in Tamaulipas state crashes his SUV into a car, killing an elderly woman. The pursuit was part of a large-scale gunfight between police and cartel gunmen, who set up blockades and used road spikes to slow police so they could flee.
The gunfight broke out this week in the border city of Matamoros in Tamaulipas state, where state police spotted Gulf Cartel gunmen in a Maron GMC Yukon and tried to stop them on the city's east side near the Camptestre del Rio neighborhood.

The gunmen fled from police and began a gunfight. Shortly after the clashes began, additional gunmen carjacked trucks, erected blockades, and installed road spikes on various streets in the city as a means of causing traffic jams and slowing down additional police forces. I threw it.

The gunmen fled along Division Del Norte Avenue and crashed into an orange Kia Spectra driven by a 55-year-old woman and her 89-year-old mother. After the crash, the gunmen continued to drive for several blocks, crashing the vehicle again and causing it to crash into a brick wall. The gunmen got out of the car and fled before authorities arrived. Authorities found various weapons and explosives inside the vehicle. State police took control of the scene until Mexican soldiers showed up to retrieve the explosives.
Emergency personnel rushed to the scene of the initial crash and rescued the two victims. However, the 89-year-old woman died from her injuries. Paramedics rushed the driver of the car to a local hospital, where he was declared in stable condition with serious injuries.
