Florida Aims to Eliminate All Vaccine Requirements Across the State

The Florida Department of Health is collaborating with the administration of Governor DeSantis to eliminate all vaccine mandates under state law, as announced by Florida Surgeon General Joseph Radapop on Wednesday.

Radapop, a vocal opponent of vaccine mandates—especially regarding the coronavirus vaccine—stated that the Florida Department of Health will team up with Governor Ron DeSantis (R) to “end all vaccine mandates in Florida law.”

“Everything,” he stressed. “The very last one.”

This announcement was met with enthusiastic applause from the audience.

“All of those last,” he went on. “The final mandate is completely wrong, associated with oppression and servitude.”

“Who am I, as a representative of the government, or as an individual here, to dictate what you should put into your body?” Radapop questioned. “Who will decide what your child should do with their body? I don’t possess that authority.”

“Your body is a precious gift,” the surgeon general asserted as more applause followed.

“You choose what goes into your body based on your connection to yourself and to your beliefs. I have no authority. The government holds no authority,” he reiterated.

“They want you to think they have that power, and regrettably, they’ve made some headway in that direction,” he remarked.

DeSantis and Radapop have both advocated for personal choice throughout the pandemic. In contrast, former President Joe Biden attempted to mandate the vaccine for around 84 million Americans, threatening job loss through the OSHA directive, despite earlier promises against such mandates. Ultimately, the Supreme Court blocked the initiative.

In 2022, Radapop asserted that Florida children should not be required to receive the coronavirus vaccine. Health and Human Services Secretary (HHS) Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has been pushing to exclude coronavirus vaccines from recommended immunization schedules for both healthy children and pregnant women, aligning with a broader movement for public health.
