Florida Man Shoots Salesman During Altercation

A Florida man allegedly confronted a group of cell phone service lawyers while yelling threats and ended up shooting one of them multiple times.

Reginald McGee, 38, encountered three AT&T lawyers at his Providence townhome in Brandon, Florida, early in the morning on February 18th. Reports indicate that he chased two female and one male salesperson down the street, shouting “Where are you?” followed by, “I’ll kill you!”

McGee reportedly drew a gun from his waistband and opened fire on the male salesperson until his weapon was empty.

Surveillance footage captured the sounds of the incident, including the screams of the two women and a series of gunshots—at least ten—according to police.

When officers from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office arrived, they found the victim seriously injured and leaning against the stoop of a townhome. Police body camera footage revealed that he was still conscious and could provide a description of his assailant.

Officers pursued McGee, who was located nearby, lying on the ground with his hands raised in surrender.

McGee allegedly confessed to the chase and threats, according to the police.

“The escalation here was completely unnecessary,” said Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister. “A man was seriously injured while just doing his job. When disagreements turn violent, it becomes a choice and a criminal act.” He praised his deputies for their swift action in apprehending the suspect, which helped ensure community safety.

While initially claiming self-defense, McGee later admitted to firing his weapon after chasing the salespeople.

The wounded victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening gunshot wounds to his leg, calf, and foot. McGee now faces several charges, including firing a weapon in public, aggravated battery, and attempted second-degree murder.
