A Florida man allegedly shot his parents, killing his father and wounding his mother, after his father chastised him for spending too much time playing video games and not going to work.
Joseph Vogt, 23, left Marvin Vogt, 63, dead and Susan Vogt, 58, with a gunshot wound to the head before fleeing. Police were called to the scene after Susan Vogt reported the incident around 11:20pm on Saturday.
When police arrived, they found Marvin Vogt dead from an apparent gunshot wound in the driveway, and Susan Vogt inside the home with a serious gunshot wound, Bartow Police Department said. She was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
“They found the mother sitting on the couch,” Police Chief Stephen Walker told reporters. fox 13. “She was alive. She had been shot once in the head.”

“All we heard about this couple was that they were really good people,” Walker added. “And it's sad to see something like this happen.”
Law enforcement agencies in Polk County and surrounding areas were reportedly on alert for the vehicle that Joseph Voigt was driving. His car was found on International Drive in Orlando around 2 a.m. Sunday, and Orlando police conducted a felony traffic stop on Vogt's vehicle and took him into custody.
The Polk County Sheriff's Office, which was assisting Bartow police, said the suspect, Joseph Vogt, confessed to shooting his parents.

The sheriff's office said Joseph Voigt was angry with his father for spending most of his time playing video games and begged him to do things on his own and get a job. It is said that he spoke to them.
“It's really sad,” Walker said. “No point, he was pissed about something stupid.”
Joseph Vogt appeared in Orange County Court Monday morning. He will be transported to the Polk County Jail and charged with murder and attempted murder.

He has a criminal history that includes arrests for shooting in residential areas and battery. He was released from jail on Dec. 1 after being arrested for assault, according to arrest records.
“Thanks to the quick response of the Bartow Police Department, this violent and dangerous suspect was quickly apprehended,” Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said in a statement. “They asked for our cooperation, and we were happy to oblige. My detectives will conduct a thorough investigation into this crime to ensure Vogt faces all the consequences of his actions.” I plan to continue.”
Walker added in a statement: “We are deeply saddened by this tragic and senseless shooting.”
