Florida Nurse Loses License Over Political Stance

Eric Martindale, a nurse in Florida, has been stripped of his nursing license after declaring he would refuse to administer anesthesia to supporters of the MAGA movement. This decision was announced on Thursday by Florida Attorney General James Usmeyer, who stated that Martindale is “no longer a registered nurse in the state of Florida.”

“Healthcare is not influenced by political beliefs, and we will not tolerate any party that puts politics above the ethical obligation to treat patients with the respect and dignity they deserve,” Usmeyer wrote.

This news follows a controversial social media post where Martindale expressed his intentions not to provide anesthesia for MAGA-related procedures. He claimed it was his right to do so and emphasized his commitment to education and ethical standards, stating, “I own all the businesses and I don’t care who I turn away!” After the post gained traction, Martindale quickly deleted his social media profiles, later claiming he had been hacked.

According to a report, Martindale also violated his contract by leaving Florida for Indiana without notifying the Florida Board of Nursing. His status on the Florida Department of Health’s registered nurse portal is currently marked as “abandoned,” despite his license being issued in February 2020 and set to expire in April 2027.

Interestingly, this incident comes on the heels of another Florida nurse, Alexis Lawler, who recently sparked outrage by wishing harm upon press secretary Caroline Leavitt during childbirth.
