Florida School Principals Arrested for DUI After July 4 Celebrations

Two school principals from Florida ended up in the back of a police car following a night out on the Fourth of July. Body camera footage revealed the incidents involved both women and the same vehicle—a white Jeep SUV—leading to separate DUI arrests.

The Clermont Police Department shared body camera footage showing officers detaining Jennifer Jimenez, aged 41, and Christina Alcalde, aged 45. In one clip, an officer tells Jimenez, “I can smell alcohol.” To which she responds, “Yes, I am.” It’s a pretty unexpected exchange, right?

According to the police report obtained by a local news outlet, Jimenez was driving with Alcalde as her passenger when they were stopped around 2 a.m. on July 5. Officers noticed the Jeep was swerving and even veered into oncoming traffic multiple times before finally stopping. The officer described Jimenez as “very slow to blink,” suggesting she might be under the influence.

Interestingly, while Jimenez was arrested for DUI and refused to take a sobriety test, Alcalde appeared impaired as well but was allowed to use rideshare services to get home. The Jeep was parked safely rather than towed away. It’s a lucky break, sort of.

However, the situation escalated a few hours later when law enforcement received reports that Alcalde might be driving again. This time, the vehicle exhibited erratic behavior—swerving within its lane and braking unexpectedly at intersections. Not particularly reassuring, right?

Alcalde, upon being stopped again, insisted during a conversation with officers that she was “much better” now, expressing concern for Jimenez, who’d already been arrested. “I didn’t mean to do anything wrong,” she added, but the officer pointed out her previous level of intoxication.

Both women were ultimately booked into Lake County Jail, facing DUI charges along with failing to submit to testing. Their bail was set at $2,000 each. Notably, Alcalde is listed as the principal of Pinecrest Lakes Academy, while Jimenez is the principal at Pinecrest Academy Tavares. It’s safe to say this isn’t the best publicity for either school.

As this drama unfolds, many are left wondering how such responsible positions could lead to such actions. There’s definitely more to unpack here, and it’ll be interesting to see how both the schools and the individuals involved move forward.
