Floyd Mayweather Faces Legal Issues Over Bad Check

Floyd “Money” Mayweather, known for his wealth and undefeated boxing record, may find himself in serious trouble. He’s facing potential prison time after allegedly writing a fraudulent check for a luxury watch in Las Vegas.

The 49-year-old boxing champion has been charged by Clark County prosecutors with two felonies: theft of property worth over $100,000 and passing a check with intent to defraud.

The charges reportedly relate to a rare Audemars Piguet watch that Mayweather attempted to purchase during his New Year’s Eve shopping spree in 2024.

He issued a $200,000 check from a Wells Fargo account, but the check was returned due to insufficient funds.

The watch boutique owner has been trying to collect the cash for over a year, sending multiple certified demand letters to Mayweather, who has failed to respond.

A criminal summons has now been issued, with Mayweather’s defense team appearing for him in court.

If he’s convicted on both charges, he could face up to 24 years in prison, which seems quite daunting. This alleged bad check is seemingly only a small part of a larger financial mess.

Mayweather is reportedly struggling with substantial debt, including a notable $7 million tax lien from the IRS for unpaid taxes.

In addition, he recently faced a court ruling requiring him to pay $1 million in child support, and he’s tangled in lawsuits over unpaid rent for a private jet service and a luxury Manhattan apartment.

While all this unfolds, Mayweather is gearing up for several exhibition matches, including a much-anticipated rematch with Manny Pacquiao set for September.

He’s ready to fight anyone, it seems—except for the Repo Man.
