Former Obama adviser warns of Supreme Court ‘MAGA majority’ if Trump wins

Former President Barack Obama on Wednesday praised President Biden after the Senate confirmed Biden’s 200th federal judge nominee amid growing concern on the left about how November’s election will affect the nation’s highest court.

Former Obama senior adviser Dan Pfeiffer has warned that the U.S. Supreme Court could maintain a “MAGA majority” if former President Trump is re-elected in November.

Pfeiffer said that with Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito due to retire soon, Trump would “almost certainly” be able to appoint two new Supreme Court justices if he is re-elected.

“If Mr. Trump wins, Mr. Thomas will be 82 and Mr. Alito will be 78 by the end of his second term,” Pfeiffer said recently on “Pod Save America.”

President Trump appointed Neil Gorsuch, Amy Coney Barrett, and Brett Kavanaugh during his first term.

A former aide to former President Barack Obama pointed out that if Mr. Trump nominates two more Supreme Court justices, “the Supreme Court will be dominated by a MAGA majority that has been ruling for decades.”

“If he is appointed twice, he will have appointed five Supreme Court justices who will all be around 60 or younger when they leave office,” he said. “That’s a MAGA court majority that will be ruling for decades to come.”

Pfeiffer said Trump’s “fingerprints” would remain “all over” the U.S. Supreme Court, even if Democrats managed to win the ensuing presidential election.

“We can win the next presidential election no matter how it plays out, and barring something extraordinary happening, President Trump’s fingerprints will be all over the Supreme Court,” Pfeiffer said.

Pfeiffer’s comments came after President Obama took me to X On Wednesday, they rallied around Biden’s judicial impact, praising the president for recognizing women and minorities.

“The President has confirmed our 200th judge – no easy feat with a slim Senate majority – and more than half are women and people of color,” Obama wrote.
