Gas Prices Decline During Trump’s Second Term

According to a recent update from AAA, gas prices are currently considered “low” during President Donald Trump’s second term.

In a press release dated July 17, it was noted that gasoline prices have dipped slightly, averaging $3.16 per gallon nationally, which is down a cent from the previous week. This is comparable to gas prices from four years ago in the summer of 2021, marking the last time they were “this low.”

As of July 18, 2025, the national average gas price stood at approximately $3.155 per gallon of unleaded fuel, a decrease from last week’s $3.167. Just a month earlier, prices averaged $3.187, while last year, the average was a significantly higher $3.505.

As we navigate through the summer of 2022, the situation stands out, especially as the U.S. works to move past the record-high prices that occurred under the Biden administration.

One statement said, “It’s here. And when it comes to gasoline prices, when this ends, we’re stronger, and when this is over, the world is moving through a significant transformation that won’t depend heavily on fossil fuels.” The expectation is that prices may rise sharply again.

On June 14, 2022, Americans experienced the peak gas prices, with unleaded averaging $5.016. A few days later, on June 19, diesel hit an all-time high of $5.815.

Trump, on his first day back in office, made it clear that prioritizing U.S. energy was essential, officially titled “Unleashing American Energy.”

In the national interest, unlocking affordable and reliable American energy and natural resources is crucial. This move is aimed at restoring prosperity for the many who have felt left behind by the economy in recent years, as well as reinforcing both economic and military security in the nation.

According to White House news agency representative Taylor Rogers, “Pump prices continue to decrease because President Trump is working to unleash American energy. He’s put an end to Joe Biden’s misguided policies regarding American energy, allowing families to live more affordably.”

This trend aligns with another positive sign as fresh egg prices fell in June, dropping 61% since February.
