Texas Attorney General Campaign Fundraising Surge

Texas Republican Attorney General Aaron Leitz has amassed an impressive fundraising total, surpassing $2 million, as reported by the Daily Call News Foundation. His campaign disclosed that he raised this amount shortly after launching his campaign on June 12, with contributions coming from more than 220 individuals.

“Patriots are rallying around our cause,” Leitz stated in a message shared with DCNF. He expressed that achieving such support in a brief period is rare for non-incumbent candidates in Texas. “My eagerness to run reflects the trust Texans place in me. When Trump invited me to the Justice Department, he called me a ‘true MAGA lawyer’ and a ‘defender of our constitution.’ Many can easily gather funds by using family wealth or leveraging their positions, but I raised over $2 million in just 18 days, starting from scratch,” he stated.

Leitz previously held a role in the Department of Justice’s Legal Policy Office and has served as Chief of Staff for Texas Senator Ted Cruz, along with working as the deputy legal strategy attorney general under Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. His campaign site notes that he also dedicated five years to the U.S. Marines.

Kash Patel, the director of the FBI, expressed his support for Leitz on June 11, calling him “a personal friend and a steadfast advocate for law and order.”

“We are fighting for the essence of Texas,” Leitz added. “My entire professional journey has been in service of this state and nation, including time overseas. I won’t rest until we’ve achieved our goals and secured our laws as your attorney general.”

On June 13, Paxton shared his excitement for Leitz’s candidacy in a post, noting he considers him a “true MAGA lawyer.” Other candidates in the race for Texas Attorney General include Republican National Senator Mays Middleton and Joan Huffman.
