Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry, a Republican, signed a bill Tuesday that bans the state from doing business with finance companies that discriminate against gun manufacturers or other companies in the firearms industry.
The law is the Firearms Industry Non-Discrimination Act (FIND Act).
The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) applauded Landry for signing the FIND Act.
Darren Russold of the NSSF noted that Governor Landry’s efforts to protect gun manufacturers and others in the firearms industry are an extension of his efforts as Attorney General, where he fought tooth and nail to protect the Second Amendment.
“Governor Landry’s leadership in Louisiana was the inspiration behind the FIND Act. As state Attorney General and a member of the State Bond Commission, he was instrumental in denying hundreds of millions of dollars of taxpayer funded service to ‘woke’ Wall Street banks that were refusing to provide essential financial services to our industry,” said Russault.
He added, “The Louisiana Legislature passed the FIND Act in 2021, but then-Governor John Bel Edwards vetoed it. Governor Landry’s signing of the bill today proves that elections really do have an impact. By signing the FIND Act, Governor Landry is sending a signal to the industry that Louisiana is now a welcoming place for members of the firearms industry.”
Similarly, a constitutional gun license was passed under then-Governor Bel Edwards but was vetoed. But Landry took office promising to protect Second Amendment rights and signed the constitutional gun license into law on March 5, 2024.
