A Heartwarming Gesture from a New Jersey Grandmother
A grandmother from New Jersey is capturing hearts for her sweet gesture towards mail carriers. Recently, she made salami and cheese sandwiches, which one postman described as the best thing since sliced bread.
Antoinette Jeancamilli, fondly known as “Nonna Netta,” has a charming routine where she gifts homemade treats to Kyle Frankenfield, the mailman who delivers to her home in Alpha, just a stone’s throw from the Pennsylvania border.
“It all began when I was roasting chicken and gave him some chicken legs,” Jeancamilli, 83, recounted. “Sometimes I give him a scone or a piece of pizza. He loves bagels with salami and cheese, so I make those for him whenever I can.”
A recent video showcasing her sandwich-making skills has gone viral, racking up nearly 9 million views. It starts with Jeancamilli toasting a bagel topped with Genoa salami and provolone.
When she sees her mailman approach, she cheerfully announces, “I brought you a sandwich, Kyle.” The surprised postman exclaims, “It’s like the third time this week!” Jeancamilli hands him the sandwich, and he gratefully replies, “Everything you make is the best thing I’ve ever eaten. Thank you so much. You’re like a third grandma to me.”
Following the online buzz, Jeancamilli has started sharing her sandwiches with other visitors as well. She described one instance where she offered a sandwich to a guy who came to replace his water heater. “I asked him if he wanted a special mailman and gave him one too,” she recalled.
Jeancamilli, who is a mother of four and grandmother to nine, boasts over 2 million social media followers. This wave of online attention began when her grandson, Luke Hardin, started posting about her meals during his summer internship in 2023.
“It would be a steak sandwich or a hamburger,” she mentioned, noting the enthusiastic comments from viewers wishing they had a grandmother like her.
Originally from Rome, Jeancamilli moved to New Jersey at age 14 and began working as a seamstress soon after. “Every time I go to the store, I see a couple of people who recognize me,” she shared, adding that her neighbors often say, “I always look for you, especially when I’m hungry.”
Her followers adore her holiday panettone and other homemade delights. Notably, some of her videos have seen views in the millions, including a video on roasted tomatoes that garnered 110 million views and another on cinnamon buns that received over 95 million. There’s even a cookbook featuring her recipes.
“She knows she’s touching lives,” Hardin said. “People tell me they made cutlets or pizza with their families after seeing her videos.” The active grandmother prepares meals for her family every Sunday, and she plans to celebrate her 70th anniversary of immigrating next month.
“She has a saying: ‘If you feed them, they will come,’” Hardin emphasized, reflecting her warmth and hospitality.
