Israeli Ministers Endorse Netanyahu’s Strategy Against Hamas

On Thursday, Israeli security ministers sanctioned Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s plan to take control of Gaza City as a step towards defeating Hamas. This decision came after discussions aimed at peace were disrupted by Palestinian terrorist groups and U.S. involvement.

Nonetheless, there are lingering concerns about the ultimate goals of these organizations and whether they can truly be defeated.

“Hamas is linked to the Muslim Brotherhood and operates as a radical jihadist group, explicitly seeking the destruction of Israel in favor of a Sharia-based regime,” an expert emphasized. They noted that the attacks carried out by Hamas on October 7 were part of a broader strategy to eliminate Israel.

Netanyahu: Israel to Take Charge of Gaza for Liberation

Netanyahu expressed that Israel’s governance over Gaza aims to free people from Hamas’ rule. He characterized the actions of Hamas as deliberate and strategic, asserting that even if they employ suicide tactics, their long-term objectives remain clear.

A campaign led by Hamas to generate international pressure through humanitarian concerns has influenced Israel’s response. Recently, the IDF indicated a tactical pause in its collaboration with international partners regarding the humanitarian aid to Gaza.

A week ago, leaders from France, Britain, and Canada announced their intention to recognize Palestinian statehood, a move that Israel’s government has criticized as a reward for terrorism.

In a recent statement to Al Jazeera, Hamas leader Ghazi Hamad suggested that such international recognition is a direct result of events following October 7.

Military spokesman Conricus remarked that this kind of recognition encourages Hamas, reflecting their disregard for compromise and its implications for Israeli hostages.

As negotiations for a ceasefire stall, Hamas appears to show some flexibility, indicating a shifting perspective.

Security Cabinet to Address Ongoing Conflict

An analyst on Palestinian affairs noted that Hamas aims to portray itself as victorious, firmly believing that it has reached a pivotal moment.

“They recognize that the international community will hold Israel responsible as civilian casualties escalate,” the analyst pointed out. He suggested Hamas remains under little pressure to halt its actions.

Ultimately, it seems that Hamas’ overarching strategy focuses on maintaining its role in jihad against Israel.

Looking back, the conflict isn’t a recent development. October 7 is just seen as another chapter in a long-standing jihad initiated as early as Hamas’ charter in 1988, claiming ownership of the land from river to sea for Muslims through continuous struggle.

Experts argue that comprehending such terrorist organizations involves recognizing their serious commitment to ongoing conflict, urging unified efforts in this protracted struggle.
