Hamas Attack on Humanitarian Workers
An unprovoked attack by Hamas on workers from the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) resulted in the deaths of at least eight individuals, with many more injured.
“We have carefully considered shutting down operations today due to escalating security threats and safety worries, but we believe the best response to these senseless attacks is to continue our mission of providing food to the people in Gaza,” a representative stated. “We can’t allow this to stop our work aimed at ensuring food security for the Palestinians.”
Gaza residents express gratitude towards Trump
“The ambush last night targeted individuals who embody the best of humanity. They risked their lives to deliver food to local aid workers and those in need. These were not combatants; they had no political affiliations,” a GHF representative expressed. “We’re heartbroken, but we will not back down. We urge the global community to denounce this unprovoked attack and support our efforts on the ground. We can’t do this alone.”
The GHF previously indicated that Hamas had threatened their teams and civilians reliant on their assistance just days before the attack. They have called on the international community to openly condemn Hamas for these actions.
“Tonight, the world should recognize this for what it is: an attack on humanity. We implore the international community to denounce Hamas immediately for this unprovoked aggression and the ongoing threats against those simply trying to provide food for the Palestinian population,” the GHF added.
Israeli Official Responds to Attack
Oren Marmorstein, a spokesperson for Israel’s Foreign Ministry, referenced the attack and questioned whether the UN would take a stand against it.
The GHF is in a challenging position with international organizations that express skepticism over the efforts of US- and Israel-supported groups to deliver aid effectively. Recently, UN Ambassador to Israel Danny Danon accused the NGO of being removed from a shared aid database after disregarding a call from international bodies to boycott the GHF.
US Support in the Face of Conflict
Moore criticized the UN for failing to protect aid workers from Hamas’ threats and questioned the organization’s silence following the deadly incident. “The UN continues to undermine our mission, which has a singular aim: to feed Gaza! Fairness does not equate to neutrality. There is clear good and evil,” he stated.
“I regret that it has come to this, and yet again, we reach out to the UN, WFP, ICRC, EU, GCC, and the world. Together, we can accomplish this.”
Since its operations started last month, GHF claimed to have distributed over 18 million meals in approximately 316,320 boxes. Moore mentioned that Palestinians have expressed their appreciation toward the US and President Trump for their assistance.
Requests for comments from the UN Secretary-General and the UN Office for Humanitarian Cooperation were not answered before the publication.
