Hamas representatives are in talks with Egyptian negotiators about Trump's Gaza peace plan.

Representatives from Hamas are set to meet with Egyptian mediators in Cairo this Sunday to discuss the implementation of President Trump’s peace plan for Gaza, according to two officials from the group.

One unnamed Hamas official indicated that the discussions would also center on preventing violations by Israel.

The official mentioned that Hamas aims to emphasize the need for Israeli forces to withdraw from Gaza and fully reopen its borders, which would increase the number of crossings and facilitate more humanitarian aid entering the region.

Additionally, a Hamas delegation is expected to hold talks with representatives from other Palestinian factions to address these same concerns.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced that they had eliminated two Palestinian militants who were reportedly planning a terrorist attack on Thursday. In southern Gaza, they killed Mahmoud Barim, affiliated with the al-Mujahideen Brigades, a faction that broke away from Fatah. The IDF noted that Barim had been surveilling their activities and was armed with a significant cache of weapons.

In the northern part of Gaza, Israeli forces targeted Ahmed Mohamed Saleh, a member of the Hamas Nukba forces, believed to have carried out numerous attacks. Several others from Hamas were also included in the strikes. Prior to these airstrikes, the IDF stated they took precautions to minimize civilian casualties, utilizing precision weapons and aerial surveillance.

Separately, an Israeli soldier was seriously injured due to an operational accident in central Gaza, and he has since been hospitalized. His family has been informed of the situation.

The ceasefire agreement currently in place in Gaza commenced on October 10, 2025, ending a two-year conflict that started on October 7, 2023, when Hamas and other groups invaded parts of Israel. According to the ceasefire, the IDF maintains control over roughly half of Gaza.

Prominent Hamas leaders, like Khaled Mashal and Musa Abu Marzouk, have recently rejected significant aspects of President Trump’s plan, including the disarmament clause, even though the group had initially agreed to it in October.

“The Resistance and its weapons are an honor and pride of the Islamic nation,” Mashal expressed during an anti-Israel summit in Istanbul on December 6, adding that “a thousand remarks are not worth one iron projectile.”
