Harris refuses to make concessions to Republicans on any abortion legislation, including religious exemptions

Vice President Kamala Harris has taken a firm stance that she will not make any concessions to Republicans on the abortion legislation she pursues as president, even though her election would likely lead to a divided government.

Harris, who has made abortion a centerpiece of her presidential campaign, has repeatedly called on Congress to enact Roe v. Wade protections into law.

But when asked by NBC News' Harry Jackson what “concrete concessions” she would make to Republicans to pass such an abortion bill, Harris scoffed. Attached.

Harris says Biden was “honest with the American people” about his mental strength: “He's capable in every way.”

“What kind of concessions would be on the table? Religious exemptions, for example? Is that something on the table?” Jackson asked.

“I don't think we should compromise when we're talking about the fundamental freedom to make decisions about your own body,” Harris responded.

Next, Jackson pointed to moderates like Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) and Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) as potential supporters of the Democratic-led abortion access push. He cited Republican congressmen.

“Why not offer them an olive branch? Or is that off the table?” Jackson asked.

Harris responded, “We can move forward with a variety of scenarios, so we won't go into hypotheticals.'' “Let's start with a basic fact: American women are being robbed of a fundamental freedom, the freedom to make decisions about their own bodies. And that is non-negotiable, and we are depriving them of a fundamental freedom, the freedom to make decisions about their own bodies. We need to reinstate the protections provided by Wade, and that's it. ”

“But what if you can't?” Jackson pressed. “What if the bill doesn't pass and you want to save lives in Florida, Texas, Georgia? What do you do then?”

“I'm not going to go down the rabbit hole with you right now,” Harris said.

The NBC anchor interjected and told the vice president, “That's an open question, because there's no guarantee that Democrats will get control of Congress.”

“Well, I’m doing everything I can to make sure that happens,” Harris retorted.
