Newly appointed border czar Tom Homan received overwhelming support from local residents when he gave a speech criticizing Illinois elected officials for their handling of illegal immigration.
Mr. Homan spoke to a raucous crowd of supporters in Chicago's Portage Park about the start of deportations of the city's illegal aliens.
“It all starts on January 21st, and we're going to start right here in Chicago, Illinois,” Homan said, to loud applause. “If the mayor of Chicago doesn't want to cooperate, stand aside. But if he gets in our way, harbors or hides illegal aliens, I will prosecute him. ” he threatened.
Mr. Homan made multiple stops in Chicago, where he regularly took shots at Mayor Brandon Johnson and Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker over their comments on immigration policy.
“The mayor says he wants to protect immigrant communities.” Homan said At Gibson's Steakhouse in Rosemont, Illinois.
“It's a herd of bulls***. If you think about the facts of the matter, sanctuary cities are sanctuary cities for criminals. That's true. When you release illegal aliens from prison and reintegrate them into the community, you Do you think the victims and witnesses of that crime want them back?'' he asked the crowd.
“I can’t believe this governor is saying the things your governors and mayors are saying,” Homan continued. “They either help or stay out of the way.”
“They're going to arrest them. They're going to enforce the law.”
According to ABC News 7Homan also answered a question about whether illegal immigrants are subject to “family separation.”
He said if an illegal immigrant comes into the country and has a child, “that's your responsibility.”
“You can take your kids home or you can stay here, but you won't get a pass,” Homan clarified.
Homan added that if Mayor Johnson prevents federal authorities from deporting criminals, he will ultimately get “the results he's complaining about.”
Future border czars believe that if “bad guys” are released into society, immigration officials will not only arrest those they suspect, but others who are in the country illegally even though they “do not pose a threat to public safety.” He explained that there is a high possibility of finding illegal immigrants.
“So what? They'll come too,” Homan revealed. “Because unlike the Biden administration, I'm not going to tell immigration officials, 'If you see an illegal immigrant standing in front of you, turn your back and walk away from them.' They're going to arrest them. , they are going to enforce the law.”
A spokesperson for Governor Pritzker said in a statement that Illinois will be subject to “numerous baseless attacks from the Trump administration over the next four years.”
The statement continued: “Rather than respond to every ridiculous boast from Trump's henchmen, Governor Pritzker focused on what Trump focused on in his first term: leading the state with competence, not chaos. “
