High school football coach in California arrested after player finds alarming item in locker room

A high school football coach in San Joaquin County was arrested after his cellphone was discovered in the locker room of Tracy High School, allegedly recording students as they changed.

According to police reports, student athletes found the phone on September 10, and it was still recording when they discovered it. The students quickly stopped the recording, deleted the footage, and handed the device to a teacher.

School resource officers, along with detectives, began a preliminary investigation. The General Investigations Unit later confirmed that the phone belonged to 48-year-old Jeffrey Pribble, the head football coach.

After a parent of one of the students alerted the Tracy Police Department, officers arrived on September 11 and arrested Pribble. In the meantime, the Tracy Unified School District has placed him on leave while the investigation is ongoing.

“Our children deserve to feel safe at school and in every space where they should be able to learn, grow, and simply be kids,” said Tracy Police Chief Sekou Millington in a social media post.
