Hillary Clinton Engages in Fundraising Amid White House Renovations
Hillary Clinton, a two-time presidential candidate, is stepping in to assist the Democratic Party in raising funds related to President Donald Trump’s upcoming renovations at the White House.
Trump is set to construct a ballroom as the East Wing undergoes demolition. This initiative hasn’t gone over well with Democrats. White House press secretary Caroline Levitt characterized the negative reactions as “false outrage.”
Levitt stated, “I think there’s a lot of false anger right now, because almost every president who’s lived in this beautiful White House behind me has modernized it or renovated it themselves,” during a segment on Fox News.
She further explained that modern presidents have often joked about desiring larger event spaces, highlighting that even Barack Obama expressed frustration over the limitations of the existing rooms like the East Room and State Dining Room.
“If you talk to journalists who have covered the White House for decades, they will tell you that the next administration has been discussing the need for larger event spaces both publicly and privately,” Levitt added.
This, however, hasn’t deterred the likes of Hillary Clinton from expressing displeasure. She’s even taken it a step beyond mere words, attempting to help the Democratic Party capitalize on this “anger.”
She posted on Instagram, “If you’re furious about Trump destroying the White House, we’ve got a new hat or sticker for you.” Her message encourages people to make purchases that support progressive causes and efforts to create a more inclusive America, promoting items adorned with the slogan “Not His Home. Our Home.”
Available items on the Onward Together website include hats, coasters, and stickers featuring the same message.
Interestingly, it seems both Hillary and her daughter Chelsea, who recently criticized Trump’s reforms, may be overlooking the fact that Bill Clinton often criticized the White House during his presidency. They seem to ignore their own past controversies that unfolded in that very building.
Responding to the Democratic backlash about the ballroom plans, the Trump administration released a “timeline of major events,” which included notable scandals from past administrations, as reported by Breitbart News.
