Former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has made the case for Kamala Harris to become president. The New York Times Wednesday guest essay.

“Elections are about the future. That’s why I’m excited about Vice President Kamala Harris. She represents a new start in American politics. She can offer a hopeful and unifying vision. She is talented, experienced and ready to be president. And I am confident she can defeat Donald Trump,” Clinton wrote.

She argued that Harris could be a perfect contrast to the Republican former president as a “skilled former prosecutor and successful vice president,” but warned from personal experience that the vice president would face sexist attacks.

“Harris’ record and character will be distorted and maligned by the flood of misinformation and ugly bias we are already hearing from her MAGA mouthpieces. She and her campaign will have to cut through the noise, and all of us as voters will have to be thoughtful about what we read, what we believe and what we share,” Clinton wrote.

He was mocked online after writing a column about Hillary Clinton as the “strongest” candidate to succeed Biden.

She continued, “I know a thing or two about how hard it is for a strong female candidate to fight against sexism and double standards in American politics. I’ve been called a witch, a mean woman and worse. I’ve even had an effigy burned. As a candidate, I was sometimes hesitant to talk about making history – I wasn’t sure if voters were ready for that.”

He reminded readers that Clinton ran against Trump as the Democratic candidate in 2016 and lost, but received 3 million more votes than him.

She warned that Harris would “face additional challenges unique to being the first Black and South Asian woman,” but said progress was possible, pointing to Obama being elected as the first Black president and Harris receiving 3 million more votes than Trump, even though the winner of the Electoral College wins the presidency.

“Harris, like so many women in politics, is consistently underestimated, but she is fully prepared for this moment,” Clinton wrote.

She also praised Biden’s decision to drop out of the race, calling it “the purest act of patriotism” she had ever seen.

“Biden has done something difficult and rare. Serving as president was a lifelong dream, and when he finally got there, he fulfilled it extraordinarily well. It took true moral clarity to let it go, to accept that finishing the job meant passing the baton. Country was more important. As someone who shared that dream and had to accept letting it go, I know it wasn’t easy, but it was the right thing to do,” Clinton wrote.

She ends her article with the following words: “The time to mourn is over. Now is the time to organize, mobilize, and win.”

Clinton and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, endorsed Harris in a joint statement released shortly after Biden’s announcement.

“We join millions of Americans in thanking President Biden for standing up for America time and time again and for all he has accomplished while always having the best interests of the country in mind,” they said in a joint statement. “We are honored to join the president in endorsing Vice President Harris and will do all we can to support her.”

“We have been through many ups and downs, but nothing worries our country more than the threat posed by Donald Trump’s reelection. He has promised to be a dictator from day one in office, and the recent decisions by his servile Supreme Court only embolden him to further destroy the Constitution. Now is the time to support Kamala Harris and fight with all our might for her election. The future of America depends on it,” the statement continued.
