A man who was tragically struck by a Maserati driver while walking his dog in Sherman Oaks has a history of resilience, having survived both the Holocaust and the Ukraine war, according to his family.
Andriy Korshunov and his dog were left in dire condition after the driver hit them and drove away. His daughter, Ilana Caitlin, expressed her heartbreak, stating that the driver “killed two souls” by not offering any help.
“My father was a Holocaust survivor,” she emphasized. “He survived so much, and then this happened in a peaceful place.”
The incident took place around 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday while 80-year-old Korshunov was walking his dog along Woodman Avenue. According to reports from the Los Angeles Police Department, both were struck by the vehicle.
Korshunov was rushed to the hospital but unfortunately did not survive, with his dog dying at the scene. Meanwhile, a nearby Maserati was found abandoned, heavily damaged in the front, and had its license plate removed.
While police have not confirmed whether this car was linked to the incident, they are towing it for further investigation. As of now, the driver remains unidentified and at large.
