House Republicans are ramping up their attacks on President Biden ahead of the prime-time State of the Union address.
House Republican leaders launched a planned offensive to counter Mr. Biden’s big speech Thursday, lining up rank-and-file members for a “media brawl” event promoting a message of Republican unity against the Democratic White House.
In a cavernous conference room dotted with posters pointing out that there have been “more than 8.7 million illegal border crossings nationwide” since President Biden took office, members chanted, “Stop the Biden Border Crisis.” He gave a speech to news organizations such as FOX News Digital while wearing a button with a message on it. Some accused Biden of being “mentally unfit” to serve as commander in chief.
When asked about their expectations for the speech, the word that escaped the members’ lips was “gaslighting.”
“I think that would be ‘federal gaslighting.’ And I think that’s very insulting,” Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (RN.Y.) told FOX News Digital.

“He’s going to try to – I don’t know the best word, but I think kids these days are using ‘gaslighting’ -” Republican Conference Vice Chairman Blake Moore (R-Utah) said. -I think he intends to make you think so.” “It’s like it’s House Republicans’ fault that the border isn’t fixed. And we’ve seen in his three years the worst results we’ve ever seen on the border.”
The ongoing border crisis and Americans’ poor perception of the economy were the two main lines of attack that lawmakers discussed, and Biden’s public dedication to solving both of them will help Americans find solutions. It was argued that it brought little or nothing to the table.
If Biden brings up these issues in his State of the Union address, House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-Minn.) told Fox News Digital that people watching at home will appreciate Biden’s optimism. He said he didn’t think he would share it.
“The good news is that people have been hearing about the crookedness of this president and his administration for over three years now. They’re sitting at home watching this and saying, ‘Whatever happens, I’m not going to make it today. It’s not better than it was four years ago.’ And that’s what’s going to happen in November,” Emmer said.

Rep. John James (R-Mich.) told Fox News Digital that he expects “gaslighting, gaslighting, and more gaslighting” from the president tonight. “The only thing he can do right now to explain away the crisis at the border and the fact that we’re paying more for everything is to lie to the American people,” James said. ” he said.
“There will be a lot of empty rhetoric and a lot of fabricated lies because this is an election year and he knows this is the beginning of a tough re-election for him. And this is his re-election right. “It’s an audition,” Rep. Jen Quiggans, R-Virginia, told FOX News Digital.

Republican lawmakers touted it as a way to unite around a single message amid sharp political divisions.
“We as conservatives have to do a better job of getting the message out, so let’s do an event like this right before the big State of the Union address, let’s get the message out about events that the White House is doing. “We want to share,” said Rep. Stephanie Bice (R-Okla.).
Rep. Monica de la Cruz (R-Texas), who responded to Biden’s speech in Spanish, told Fox News Digital: [Americans] Seeing through the media controversy is one message, and that message is that it’s important that we not only take back the White House in November, but maintain control of the House and take back the Senate, and that we will do so. This means that meaningful legislation can be passed. It’s important to America.”
