I really hope Pope Leo will oppose Trump’s deportations.

On Friday, Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) shared her thoughts during MSNBC’s “Chris Jansing Report,” expressing optimism about the newly elected Pope’s stance against the deportations by Trump’s administration.

She noted that the Pope was quite active on social media prior to his election, including a post that featured a humorous comment from a Catholic commentator who discussed Trump’s interaction with the President of El Salvador concerning Rodrigo Garcia’s deportation. The commentary highlighted how the concerns of the world seemed secondary to his immediate circle—his family, neighbors, and fellow citizens.

Pelosi remarked, “I certainly hope so. I’ve been clear about his values and views even before he was elected Pope.”

She emphasized the importance of listening to the words spoken by both elected officials and religious leaders, noting their significance.
