House Oversight Committee Forms ICE Database
Recently, Representative Robert Garcia (D-Calif.) revealed that his Democratic counterparts on the House Oversight Committee are creating a “master ICE tracer.” This new initiative aims to update undocumented immigrants and activists nationwide about the activities of federal immigration authorities.
Garcia made this announcement on Monday, standing alongside Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass (D). Bass has been vocal in her critiques of ICE and Border Patrol agents who detain undocumented immigrants and other offenders in the city.
In a contrasting stance, the Surveillance Democratic Party contends that this database will only document confirmed instances of misconduct by ICE after they happen. They argue that some media and Democratic narratives tend to exaggerate or misinterpret instances of wrongdoing by federal agents.
“It’s just a matter of time before citizens lash out against our staff or hurt themselves,” a statement from the House Oversight Democratic Party warned.
They further claimed that tactics such as compiling databases, secretly gathering information on employees, and derogatorily labeling federal staff as “Gestapo” have contributed to over a 1,000 percent rise in assaults against Homeland Security personnel during their operations.
Democratic efforts targeting Department of Homeland Security (DHS) workers raise significant concerns, particularly for those who witnessed the fallout from the Biden-Harris administration’s border policies.
A DHS official commented, “I feel these filings are putting our safety in jeopardy. The risk is escalating with public involvement. It’s not far-fetched to think they might attack our personnel.”
Kristi Noem, the DHS Secretary, stated, “No matter what it’s called, this is a direct pipeline providing information on American law enforcement to anarchists, domestic terrorists, or cartel members. I’m collaborating with Pam Bondi to ensure that anyone who harms law enforcement officers faces the maximum legal consequences.”
