"Ignore the Critics": Trump Warns Against Detractors Regarding Possible Iran Agreement to Reopen Strait Of Hormuz

On Sunday, President Donald Trump used Truth Social to respond to critics regarding potential provisions in a peace deal aimed at resolving the ongoing conflict with Iran, which has lasted nearly three months.

Notable figures like Texas Senator Ted Cruz and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo voiced concerns on social media about the rumored deal and how it was conceived. Trump highlighted that any agreement he would consider would significantly differ from the one established by President Obama in 2015. He stated, “If I broker a deal with Iran, it will be beneficial and unlike Obama’s approach, which he claims provided Iran with substantial financial resources and an avenue toward nuclear armament.”

Trump declared confidently, “Our contract is the complete opposite of what was previously attempted, though it remains unseen and hasn’t been finalized yet.” He urged people not to heed critics who don’t understand the situation, asserting, “Unlike previous leaders, I don’t engage in poor deals!”

In an interview, former National Counterterrorism Center Director Joe Kent warned that for any agreement to hold weight, the U.S. must acknowledge Israel’s position, as they view a deal with Iran as a direct threat. He suggested that to avert Israeli sabotage, the U.S. might need to reconsider its military backing of Israel, especially if tensions escalate in the region.

A recent CBS News survey revealed that a significant majority of respondents expressed worry about the economy, attributing their stress to the ongoing war’s effects, particularly rising inflation stemming from high energy costs.

The average gas price in the U.S. as of Sunday stood at $4.515 per gallon, up more than $1.50 since late February, just prior to the military operations against Iran. Diesel prices have also risen, averaging over $5.62 per gallon.

Several conservative media personalities defended Trump’s diplomatic maneuvers after consulting with high-ranking officials. They conveyed optimism about the talks with Iran, noting that those discussions would not yield financial benefits for Iran unless concrete outcomes were achieved.

According to a senior official, Iran has shown willingness to dispose of certain enriched stocks and cease further uranium enrichment, admitting the need for compromise.

Military actions against Iran by the U.S. and Israel commenced on February 28, following the collapse of negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program. Trump and his officials claimed ongoing military strikes had essentially neutralized Iran’s nuclear threat, though specifics were scarce. There have been assertions from administration members about Iran’s capability to develop nuclear devices, but these claims lack presented evidence.

Reports suggested Trump was influenced by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to initiate military operations against Iran, despite some internal doubts among senior officials.
