Since President Donald Trump took office in January, encounters at illegal immigrant borders have plummeted, continuing to trend at record lows compared to this time under former President Joe Biden last year.
For example, there were just 32 encounters in El Paso, Texas on Thursday, compared to 1,134 encounters on the same day in 2024, according to Border Patrol sources. That amounts to a 97% reduction.
In Tucson, Arizona, there was 59 anxiety compared to 1,222 on the same day last year, a 95% decline, while San Diego saw 36 anxiety compared to 908 on the same day in 2024.
Trump reports that illegal immigrants will meet at historic lows in the first month of their inauguration
In total, there was just 254 anxiety at the southern border on Thursday, compared to 4,229 on the same day last year, but a 94% cut.
The numbers come after Trump announced earlier this month that he had dropped to 8,326 in his first inauguration month for a month in February. This figure shows a 96% drop from the Biden administration's high in December 2023.
Following the announcement, Trump rebelliously declared that borders would be closed and that all mating members of these borders would be immediately expelled or charged for crimes against the United States.

Trump administrators end deportation protections for massive Venezuelans amid oppression of illegal immigration
“This means that a very small number of people have come. Our country's invasion is over,” Trump wrote. “Anyone who attempts to enter the United States illegally will face serious criminal penalties and immediate deportation.”
Biden was one day of concerns ranged from 8,000 to 10,000 immigrants, and his best month was December 2023 when 249,785 Border Patrol arrests were recorded.

A day of unrest under Biden during the border crisis has been repeated over and over the entire first month of Trump.
A major decline occurred despite Congress not passing the new immigration law.
Biden said during his term that he needed a new bill to tackle an unprecedented influx of immigrants pouring across the southern border, but the bill didn't cross his desk. Trump's second term, like his first term, consists of executive orders, and hard-line messaging to enforce current laws and close illegal intersections.
Trump has also signed an order to end birthright citizenship, stopped hospitalizations for refugees, granted immigration via humanitarian parole, and ended the use of the app at the tropical border to resume construction of border walls.
Trump's hard-pressed approach to illegal immigration is a key campaign promise, and his administration has also arrested and deported criminal illegal immigrants across the country under the leadership of border border Tom Homan and Homeland Security Secretary Christie Noem.
