The Illinois City Police Station has pledged to prevent the local law execution agencies from coordinating with ice. According to the Illinois Trust Law, the department did not provide ICE information about individuals suspected of illegal immigrants.
“The main purpose of the city at this time is to ensure and maintain the happiness of the community in accordance with the guidance of the Illinois Corporation.
Illinois passed the trust law in 2017 during the first term of President Donald Trump.

Mayor of Chicago, Brandon Johnson, has confirmed that the city continues to comply with state law.
“Chicago is a strong position. Our commitments to protect and support this city, regardless of the situation,” Johnson wrote on Sunday social media posts. “We continue to fight this place for justice and safety of everyone who calls home.”

Before Trump returned to the White House, the leaders of the sanctuary doubled the opposition to supporting the federal immigration efforts. Municipal members of the city from Chicago to San Diego have reconfirmed the local ordinance of blocking the support of ice.
In an inauguration speech in January 2025, Trump mentioned his plan to work on illegal immigrants who played a central role in his re -election campaign.
“All illegal admissions will be stopped immediately, and we will start the process of returning millions of criminal foreigners to the place they come,” said Trump.
