"I'm Not Prepared to Pass Away Yet": Dolly Parton Talks About Speculation Regarding Her Health

Dolly Parton Calms Health Concerns

Dolly Parton reassured her fans on Wednesday that she’s not seriously ill, addressing recent health speculation in a video shared on X. She expressed gratitude for the prayers from her supporters and acknowledged the worry that arose from a post made by her sister the day before, which requested prayers for her.

“I appreciate your prayers because I’m a person of faith,” Parton stated. “I can always use the prayers for anything and everything, but I want you to know that I’m OK.”

In the video, which was recorded during a Grand Ole Opry commercial shoot, Parton appeared lively and well-presented. “I’ve got some problems, as I mentioned,” she said, reflecting on the health challenges that arose after her husband Carl’s prolonged illness and subsequent passing. “I let a lot of things go that I should’ve been taking care of.”

She noted that she’s now addressing those health issues. “Nothing major,” she explained about her ongoing treatments, adding that she had to cancel some engagements to be closer to home and continue her treatments at Vanderbilt.

Parton also mentioned the misleading AI-generated images that falsely depicted her looking unwell, with Reba McEntire at her bedside. “Ooh, Lordie. They had Reba at my deathbed, and we both look like we need to be buried,” she laughed. “If I was really dying, I don’t think Reba would be the one at my deathbed.”
