In-N-Out President Moves Family Out of California

Lynsi Snyder, the president of the famous California burger chain In-N-Out, has revealed that her family is leaving California due to the state’s policies. This announcement was made on the podcast “Relatable” hosted by Ally Beth Stucky.

Previously, In-N-Out had shared plans to expand to Tennessee, but Snyder mentioned that her entire family has decided to relocate entirely. “Raising a family here isn’t easy. It’s tough to run a business here, too,” she stated during the podcast.

She noted that the company is building an office in Franklin, and she herself is moving there. Stucky, surprised, remarked, “What do you think about that? You’re a California girl, right?” to which Snyder replied, with a hint of nostalgia, “Yeah, I loved living in Northern California. I’m grateful for my upbringing; it shaped who I am. But I think if I had grown up in Southern California, it would be different.”

While acknowledging the beauty and benefits of California, Snyder explained that the policies ultimately led her to seek a new home. She elaborated, “Most of our stores will still be in California for now, which is great, but building my family elsewhere is a different journey.”

Snyder mentioned that the company intends to provide employees with a “long runway” to plan their moves by 2030, indicating an understanding of the transition they’ll need to navigate. Stucky also inquired about Snyder’s ties to the East Coast, and Snyder hinted at a more flexible boundary now. “Florida has expressed interest, but we’ve declined. Similarly, East Coast states are still a no,” she said.

As the granddaughter of In-N-Out’s founder, Snyder spoke about the influence of her Christian faith on her leadership style and commitment to maintaining the company’s high standards. She articulated her respect for her family’s legacy and the importance of faith in her professional life.

Her journey, filled with challenges and personal growth, was described by Stucky as noteworthy. “She’s passionate about serving God and reflects that in everything she does with the company,” Stucky remarked. Snyder’s story illustrates the complexity of balancing personal values and business aspirations, marking a significant chapter in both her life and that of In-N-Out.
