Transgender Suspect Linked to Leftist Gun Club Involved in Oregon Incident
A transgender suspect accused of bombing and firing at a Tesla facility in Oregon has connections to an organized leftist gun club, according to the Department of Justice (DOJ). The suspect, Adam Laccy, is described by federal prosecutors as a “competitive shooter” and previously associated with the Socialist Rifle Association (SRA), which has chapters across the United States.
In court, officials highlighted Laccy’s background, noting the SRA’s position of supporting the “working class” by providing firearms for “self-defense and community defense.” They emphasized that this organization seeks to educate its members and offers live training opportunities, as detailed in various reports and statements from the SRA.
Laccy, who used the name Allison Tesla online, allegedly possessed unregistered destructive devices and made attempts at arson after damaging Tesla dealerships in Salem, Oregon, earlier this year.
Neither the SRA nor Laccy’s legal representation responded to inquiries regarding the accusations. The SRA has specific rules that forbid advocating any illegal activities.
In a message shared in July 2024, the SRA had called for more leftists to arm themselves for their protection, which followed a tragic incident where a gunman killed a Trump supporter at a campaign rally.
Additionally, the SRA had previously voiced the need for action in response to deportations under the Trump administration.
Laccy’s attacks on the Tesla facility are said to have occurred primarily in Oregon, where the SRA operates three chapters. Surveillance evidence reportedly captured Laccy throwing a Molotov cocktail, and prosecutors claimed he fired a shot at a witness trying to escape the scene.
The DOJ expressed concerns about Laccy’s potential flight risk if released, describing him as a “danger to the community.” A judge ruled for his pretrial release but allowed for a delay until Thursday afternoon for the government to appeal the decision. Reports indicated concern regarding Laccy’s skills with firearms and improvised explosive devices, which he allegedly crafted using common household items readily available in the community.
The local district attorney’s office is also reviewing possible charges against Laccy, as mentioned by the DOJ.
