Assault on Jewish Men in Brooklyn

In a troubling incident in New York City, a man wearing a shirt with an Iranian flag attacked three Jewish men while shouting derogatory phrases before being arrested. The suspect, identified as Andrzej Unuk, 41, allegedly assaulted the men, aged 48, 38, and 21, in Brooklyn’s Williamsburg neighborhood, according to reports.

The Williamsburg Shomrim Safety Patrol characterized the incident as a hate crime, expressing gratitude to the NYPD for their swift action and support from community volunteers. The police later confirmed their involvement, stating that Unuk was apprehended on charges of assaulting the three victims.

Footage showed the suspect being placed in the back of a police vehicle while onlookers from the local Orthodox Jewish community observed. Officials noted that the men were attacked one at a time as they were conversing; Unuk struck one in the back, another in the shoulder, and the last in the head, reportedly yelling, “Damn the Jews.” Each of the victims experienced facial pain but declined medical assistance.

Unuk now faces multiple charges, including those related to hate crime assault, and was arraigned in Brooklyn Criminal Court with bail set at $5,000. His next court appearance is scheduled for Thursday.
