Iran shifts military equipment during joint exercises with Russia in the Strait of Hormuz, according to an expert.

Iran has reportedly redeployed attack drones and other military equipment on Thursday, coinciding with joint exercises involving Russia in the Strait of Hormuz, as defense experts noted this development. Cameron Chell, a defense analyst, characterized the move as a “calculated escalation,” occurring amid escalating tensions with the United States. This action followed sightings of an American MQ-9 Reaper drone, known for its precision strike capabilities, in the area.

“The joint training involves Iranian military positioning drones for potential attacks,” Chell explained, emphasizing that while they were masked by military exercises along the coast, it points to an escalation in the situation.

In related developments, President Donald Trump emphasized his commitment to pushing for a deal regarding Iran’s nuclear ambitions following indirect discussions in Geneva. He stated, “We intend to make a deal; otherwise, we’re going to get a deal one way or another.” This remark underscores his determination to see a resolution.

On February 18, U.S. Central Command shared an image of an F/A-18 Super Hornet landing on the USS Abraham Lincoln, an aircraft carrier in the Arabian Sea. Recent flight data indicated U.S. Navy MQ-4C Triton drones conducting surveillance operations near Iran.

Chell noted that the Triton drone, while lacking attack capabilities and usually flying at altitudes around 50,000 feet, plays a crucial role in providing real-time situational awareness to naval command by analyzing Iranian military activities.

Moreover, he expressed that these drones are designed to keep the United States informed about Iranian military exercises with Russia, adding that the MQ-9 Reaper drone also has offensive capabilities and is likely to be deployed soon. He pointed out that Iran does not have significant defenses against such capabilities.

Further, Poland, as a NATO ally, has warned its citizens to leave Iran promptly, with its prime minister indicating that “the possibility of conflict is very real.”
