Iran warns US to ‘stay away’ from conflict between Israel

Iran’s mission to the United Nations has insisted that its missile and drone launches into Israel were legitimate and warned the United States to “stay away”.

Iran’s mission to the United Nations said in a statement: “This is a conflict between Iran and the rogue Israeli regime, and the United States must stay out of it!”

Iran’s warning comes as U.S. officials confirmed to Fox News that U.S. forces continue to shoot down Iranian drones heading toward Israel.

A U.S. military official said, “U.S. forces in the region continue to shoot down Iranian-launched drones targeting Israel. The U.S. military will provide additional defense support and stand ready to protect U.S. forces operating in the region. We are maintaining it.”

Iran’s mission to the UN said in a statement that the attack was justified under Article 51 of the UN Charter, which gives UN member states the right to self-defense in the event of attack from another country.

Iran said the missiles and drones were launched in retaliation for an airstrike on the Iranian consulate in Syria that killed several generals.

“Iran’s military action is in response to the Zionist regime’s attack on our country’s diplomatic facilities in Damascus,” the statement said.

Israel has not claimed responsibility for the attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus.

The statement said the retaliatory strike was in response to the attack in Syria and said, “The issue can be considered settled. However, if the Israeli regime makes another mistake, Iran’s response will be considerably harsher.”
