Orlando, Florida. – Floridians are currently required to file their federal tax returns until May 1, 2025. Internal Revenue Agency.

The IRS announced it after Hurricane Milton ripped Florida on October 5, 2024.

According to the IRS, the extension applies to Florida individual and business tax returns.

“This declaration allows the IRS to postpone certain tax payments and tax deadlines for taxpayers residing or operating in disaster areas,” read the IRS statement after the announcement.

Rep. Maxwell Frost, D-Orlando, I posted a reminder on social media on Friday.

According to the IRS, the deadline applies to:

  • Individuals or businesses with 2024 returns scheduled for March or April 2025.

  • An individual, company C, or tax-free organization with a valid extension to file a calendar year 2023 federal return. However, the IRS noted that payments for these returns were scheduled for last spring before the hurricanes, so they are not eligible for the extra time.

  • Quarterly estimated tax payments scheduled for 2024, January 15, 2025, and 2025 estimated tax payments normally scheduled for April 15, 2025.

  • Quarterly salary and excise tax returns on October 31, 2024, January 31, 2025, and April 30, 2025.
