Israel Buries Agam Naim, First Female Combat Soldier to Die in Gaza

Israel on Wednesday buried Agam Naim, a 20-year-old paramedic with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the first female combatant to be killed on the battlefields of Gaza.

Naim, whose full name means “Pleasant Lake,” was serving as a noncombatant when she volunteered to join a combat unit, according to social media reports. Like many Israelis, she was inspired to do more to serve her country after the Oct. 7 Hamas terror attacks.

Israeli government spokesman David Mensah said on Thursday that the total number of soldiers killed in the war with Hamas had reached 713, including those who helped repel the initial terror attack.

of Jerusalem Post Reported:

Naim was a 20-year-old paramedic from Kibbutz Mishmalot. She was due to finish her six-month tour of duty in Gaza on Thursday and go on standard leave to begin teaching a paramedic course at Medical Corps School Bahad 10.

She had already renewed her passport and was planning to take a short holiday abroad with friends to escape months of fighting.

Agam was the youngest and was a wonderful child with an inner happiness that was contagious to everyone around her. She was independent, always knew what she wanted and how to handle any situation, nurtured herself in many ways and was loved everywhere.

of post He added that Naim was killed along with three other Israeli soldiers in a building explosion that was likely the result of a booby trap set by Hamas.

According to reports, Israel was forced to send in more troops rather than simply bombing buildings believed to be harboring Hamas terrorists due to President Joe Biden's decision, supported by Vice President Kamala Harris, to withhold large precision weapons from Israel following the Israeli incursion into Rafah.
