Israel’s Memorial Day Tribute to U.S. Soldiers
On Monday, Israel observed Memorial Day by sharing a heartfelt video message that honored U.S. soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice, highlighting the strong bond between the United States and Israel.
In a post from the Foreign Ministry accompanying the video, it stated, “Today, on Memorial Day, Israel stands with the United States. We honor the brave men and women who gave their lives to protect freedom and the shared values of a free nation.”
The video, posted across the official social media platforms of the Israeli government, underscored the deep partnership between the U.S. and Israel, paying homage to fallen American service members.
The narration reflected, “Today, on Memorial Day, we the people of Israel salute the American soldiers who have defended not only America, but the free world time and time again. Israel knows all too well the high cost of fighting for survival and freedom.”
This year’s observance carried additional weight, as Israel and the U.S. confront shared challenges in the region.
Ekiel Reiter, the Israeli Ambassador to the United States, also shared a message on this occasion, stating, “This Memorial Day, we remember the men and women who sacrificed everything for this great country, the United States of America. As we know all too well in Israel, freedom and prosperity cannot be taken for granted.”
The Israeli Consulate General in New York joined in the tribute, expressing, “This Memorial Day, we stand with our American brothers and sisters to honor and remember the brave soldiers who served in the United States military and gave their lives while defending freedom, democracy, and life.”
The Israeli embassy in the U.S. echoed similar sentiments, remarking, “America has always been a beacon of freedom, and the men and women who gave their lives to protect it made that light possible.”
Meanwhile, President Donald Trump observed Memorial Day at Arlington National Cemetery, where he placed a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier alongside Vice President J.D. Vance and Secretary of the Army Pete Hegseth. He stated, “With reverence, we pay our respects to those who died for the survival of our country, those who died for the survival of our nation.”
In his speech, Trump also referenced recent military actions against Iran, honoring the 13 U.S. service members lost in Operation Epic Fury, and assured that Iran would “never have nuclear weapons.” He emphasized, “In Operation Epic Fury, we lost 13 great souls, great, special people. These wonderful men and women gave their lives to ensure that the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism never had nuclear weapons.”
The White House reiterated the day’s solemn significance, stating, “freedom is never free.” They expressed, “Today, we honor the brave American heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice for their nation. We remember our fallen warriors, pray for their loved ones and our Gold Star families, and thank those who gave their all.”
