Iran’s Fars news agency said an explosion was heard near the airport in the central city of Isfahan, but the cause was unknown.

“The cause of these sounds is still unknown and the investigation will continue until the exact details of the incident are known,” the semi-official Fars news agency said.

Isfahan province is home to several Iranian nuclear facilities, including Natanz, the center of Iran’s uranium enrichment program.

Speculation grew on social media that the targets in Syria and Iraq were linked to the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), the foreign terrorism wing of the Iranian military.

The Israeli attack was apparently carried out in response to a major Iranian missile and drone attack on Israel over the weekend. The attack, which was largely thwarted by Israeli and allied air defenses, was Iran’s first direct attack on Israel from Iranian territory.

Israel has promised to respond with attacks inside Iran if any attacks originate from inside Iran.

Israel has also long considered attacking Iran’s nuclear program, with or without U.S. support.

The Iranian regime is not believed to have any significant air defenses. His Dr. Shay Har-Zvi of the Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (IPS) at Reichmann University Said Breitbart News reported in a Thursday press conference that Iran’s air defense weapons, which were being supplied by Russia, did not yet include the latest generation S-400.

Russian-Iranian cooperation brings urgency to Israel’s response to Iran, as he knew Israel had limited time to counterattack before Russia provided Iran with more advanced air defense systems. Agreed that it is possible. He added that Russia is unlikely to want a direct conflict between Iran and Israel.
