Israeli Attacks Result in 16 Deaths, Including 3 Children, According to Gaza Agency

On Sunday, Gaza’s civil defense agency reported that 16 individuals, including at least three children, lost their lives due to Israeli strikes on Palestinian areas.

Mahmoud Bassar, a spokesman for civil defense, stated that six fatalities occurred during an overnight airstrike in Khan Yunis, located in the southern Gaza Strip. Among the deceased were two young boys, aged five and two, found in an apartment in Almawasi.

Additionally, civil defense mentioned that a further 10 people died in a strike targeting a tent in Almawasi, which included a child and seven women.

The Israeli military did not provide immediate remarks when approached by AFP, noting they were in the process of gathering information.

A military announcement released earlier indicated that over the past two days, Israel’s Army claimed to have “stopped more than 100 terrorist targets across the Gaza Strip.” They also reported discovering “weapon caches” and stated that they had eliminated “many terrorists” in the southern region.

Israel resumed its military operations in Gaza on March 18 after a two-month ceasefire that followed the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023.

According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, at least 2,436 individuals have lost their lives since Israel restarted its offensive, bringing the overall death toll in the ongoing conflict to 52,535.

Israel has ceased aid delivery to Gaza, with Hamas claiming that supplies have been diverted. The Israeli government maintains that the blockade aims to compel the release of hostages being held in Palestinian territories.

The United Nations agency has called on Israel to eliminate restrictions, pointing out that Gaza is in the midst of a humanitarian crisis and facing severe food shortages.
