Israeli forces have captured about 20 Hamas terrorists hiding inside Khan Yunis Hospital in the Gaza Strip. The Jewish Army is being supported by medical staff as it waits for oxygen cylinders to be delivered, officials announced.
Several IDF special forces were dispatched to Al-Amal Hospital last week after intelligence services suggested that Hamas members were operating within civilian spaces, the Israeli military announced on Saturday. It was done.
With the support of Al Amal hospital staff, the soldiers were able to locate and subdue the terrorists without opening fire or interrupting medical treatment.
“This operation once again demonstrated the cynical tactics of the terrorist organization Hamas, which uses hospitals and civilians to hide terrorists,” the Israel Defense Forces said in a statement.
The Hamas members were detained and transferred to Israel for interrogation, the military added.
After the arrests, the IDF worked with the Gaza Coordination and Liaison Office to deliver more than 20 donated oxygen tanks to hospitals.
The IDF said its troops were briefed before the operation on “the importance of preventing harm to patients, medical staff, civilians and medical equipment in accordance with international law.”
Like other medical facilities across Gaza, Al Amal Hospital is struggling to care for patients as tens of thousands of people are injured in the conflict between Israel and Hamas.
According to the Hamas-controlled Health Ministry, nearly 68,000 people have been injured in the war so far, and the death toll in Gaza has exceeded 28,000.
The arrests at al-Amal hospital are just a few of the hundreds made last week in Khan Yunis, where the heaviest fighting of the war continues.
Hundreds of thousands of Palestinian refugees who fled the north have since fled further south to Rafah, as the IDF advances past Khan Yunis, the largest city in southern Gaza.
In Rafah, Gaza’s most populous city, currently home to more than 1.4 million refugees, Israel Defense Forces invaded Rafah to destroy Hamas terrorists and search for the 136 hostages remaining in Gaza. As preparations continue, we could see an unprecedented level of loss of civilian life.
On Saturday, Hamas police official Iman Rantisi was struck by an airstrike in Rafah, killing 43 Palestinians.
President Biden on Sunday warned Israel to proceed with its advance into the southern Gaza city of Rafah “without a credible and workable plan to ensure the safety and support of the more than 1 million people sheltered there.” I warned you not to.
