Carville Critiques Biden’s Decision to Stay in Race
James Carville, a seasoned Democratic strategist, expressed concerns this past Sunday over Joe Biden’s decision to remain in the 2024 election race, suggesting it’s had a detrimental effect on the Democratic Party as a whole.
“The state of the Democratic Party stems from Biden not leaving the country until July 21 of an election year, right?” Carville stated. He implied that had Biden exited the race earlier, perhaps in October 2023, the Democrats might have had a different outcome in the elections. “Let’s be real,” he added.
He also pointed out that those on the left, who often criticize the party for not fighting hard enough, have been silent about Biden’s re-election bid. “None of them were saying anything about it,” he remarked.
Carville has been vocal about how the Democratic Party’s affiliation with far-left identity politics continues to taint its reputation, despite attempts by some factions to steer the party in a new direction.
Despite this criticism, the influence of Democratic Socialists seems to be on the rise within the party. CNN senior analyst Ron Brownstein admitted uncertainty about handling this new faction, noting a personal political adjustment challenge he’s facing.
“I never imagined it would come to this,” Carville lamented, revealing his struggle to adapt to the shifting political landscape.
Brownstein offered insights regarding potential lessons from the 2026 elections. He stated, “If the Center wants to win in 2028, it must demonstrate it has learned from its past mistakes while energizing the fight against the MAGA movement.” He underscored that while the 2026 results may not guarantee a left victory in 2028, centrists will need to put up a fight to retain their hold on the party.
Despite his critiques of the far-left, Carville maintained that the Democratic Party needs substantial change. “We lost because changes were demanded, and we failed to deliver,” he noted. “Now the situation has left us in this predicament.” He expressed a belief that if Biden had exited earlier, the Democrats might have secured a more decisive win.
Brownstein echoed this sentiment, saying that while Biden’s departure might not have guaranteed a win for Democrats, it likely reduced their chances further.
Fox News Digital reached out for comments from Biden but did not receive an immediate response.
