Jasmine Crockett Advocates for Voter Education
In a recent podcast, D-Texas MP Jasmine Crockett shared her thoughts on voting and education, arguing that many voters are not adequately informed. “Most people voted in the wrong way because they were not educated,” she stated during the episode of Jamal Bryant’s podcast, “Let’s Be Clear,” which aired on Thursday.
Crockett explained that many individuals are preoccupied with daily life—managing responsibilities like keeping a roof over their heads and ensuring their children are cared for. “It’s tough. You’re just trying to navigate life,” she said, implying that this often distracts people from staying informed about political matters.
Discussing the importance of upcoming elections in Georgia, specifically the U.S. Senate and governor races in 2026, she emphasized that simply voting is not enough. “We need to understand that it’s not enough to go out and vote,” she said. The stakes are high, and education should be a priority, as she pointed out, “Every election is a matter of life and death,” highlighting the need for awareness and action.
Crockett also expressed skepticism regarding public trust in politicians, admitting that many people view them as “con artists” and “liars.” “They don’t trust us. A lot of people think we are con artists. Frankly, a lot of them are,” she confided, suggesting that this perception complicates the political landscape.
Encouraging her fellow Democrats, she remarked on the need to persist and not let people feel powerless. “What I say is, don’t make people feel helpless,” she said, noting that many express feelings of despair when discussing their political engagement.
Finally, as the political scene heats up, with individuals like D-Ga. Senator Jon Ossoff preparing for reelection, Crockett’s comments serve as a reminder of the importance of informed voting and active participation in democracy.
