Jazz Chisholm Jr expresses that the Knicks parade inspires his World Series aspirations

New York City celebrates Knicks’ first NBA championship in 53 years

After a wait of 53 years, the New York Knicks have finally clinched their first NBA championship, leading to exuberant celebrations across New York City. Streets in Manhattan were filled with thousands of fans who came out for a historic ticker tape parade, effectively transforming a regular weekday into a joyous citywide event.

Reflecting on this excitement, Yankees second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. holds high hopes for the upcoming 2026 MLB season. Back in 2024, the Yankees were on the brink of ending a championship drought spanning five major sports leagues, but they fell short against the Los Angeles Dodgers, who won the World Series in just five games.

Chisholm had the chance to witness what a championship parade feels like in New York last month, as the Knicks’ victory incited a wave of joy, tears, and various emotions throughout the city and beyond.

“You know, winning the World Series is always the top goal for any MLB team, especially for one like ours with 27 championships. Talking with Knicks players during the celebrations just made me want that trophy even more,” Chisholm shared. He recalled a conversation with teammate Jalen, which inspired him as he listened to the pride in Jalen’s voice.

On a personal note, Chisholm expressed his joy about the Knicks’ triumph, saying, “I’ve been chatting with my sons about it, and they’re thrilled.” As an impending free agent, he’s focused solely on the Yankees’ current season, hoping to secure a solid postseason spot.

The Yankees faced challenges leading up to the All-Star break, but they managed to regain some momentum with a four-game winning streak. However, they still miss three-time MVP Aaron Judge, who’s sidelined with a rib injury. Despite his extended recovery, Chisholm noted Judge’s presence and support for the team, emphasizing, “He’s still a key voice in our clubhouse.”

Chisholm pointed out that even though Judge is unable to play, he remains heavily involved, coming to games whenever he can. “He’s the most positive guy in the clubhouse,” Chisholm remarked, expressing eagerness for Judge’s return as the Yankees strive to capture their first trophy since 2009.

Chisholm daydreams of riding on a parade float, like the Knicks did. “I often think about it,” he confessed, mentioning how he envisions the celebratory moments of a World Series victory. “That’s what we’re all aiming for—celebrating, parades, just going wild like New York did for the Knicks.”

As summer kicks off, Chisholm is also making waves in baseball fashion. He’s part of the Corona Beach Connect Series, showcasing jerseys that reflect a beach-inspired vibe alongside other MLB All-Stars. The designs are vibrant, pulling inspiration from the beaches of the Bahamas, where Chisholm comes from.

“It represents my roots and who I am. I think Corona and I share a similar mindset about enjoying life by the beach,” he noted. Chisholm’s creations embody a laid-back attitude infused with music and family, reflecting his upbringing and the joyous spirit of summer.
