Jeff Bezos in Talks for $100 Billion AI Manufacturing Initiative

Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, is reportedly engaging in initial discussions to secure $100 billion for a new project. This initiative focuses on acquiring manufacturing companies and utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) for automation.

Bezos is organizing a meeting with several major asset managers to discuss funding for this venture. The Wall Street Journal noted that he has recently traveled to the Middle East to meet with wealthy representatives and visited Singapore to seek investments for an AI manufacturing fund.

The proposed fund is aimed at transforming manufacturing and is set to acquire firms in critical sectors such as semiconductor production and defense. It’s expected to be larger than many existing buyout funds and will compete with SoftBank’s Vision Fund, which also totals $100 billion.

Bezos has also taken on the role of co-CEO for an AI startup called Project Prometheus. His vision is to leverage the startup’s technology to enhance efficiency and profitability among the portfolio companies of the fund.

According to additional reports, Project Prometheus is negotiating with former Google executive Vikram Bajaj to raise up to $6 billion. Recently, the company appointed David Limp, the CEO of aerospace manufacturer Blue Origin, to its team.

While Amazon has yet to comment on these developments, Project Prometheus also remains unavailable for further details.

Project Prometheus successfully secured $6.2 billion in late 2025, focusing on AI applications for the design and production of computers, vehicles, and spacecraft. Analysts have expressed concerns about the broad implementation of AI, hinting at potential issues like the displacement of entry-level jobs and rising economic uncertainties.

Predictions indicate that by 2030, approximately 6.1% of jobs in the U.S. could be lost due to AI and automation, according to a report from Forrester Research. Additionally, a September 2025 survey from the Pew Research Center revealed that 50% of Americans feel more anxious than excited about the growing prevalence of AI in their daily lives, a noticeable increase from 37% in 2021.
