According to reports, a young Jewish man was stabbed early Saturday morning near Chabad’s headquarters in Crown Heights by a man who shouted “Free Palestine.”
The man with the knife allegedly approached the victim around 2 a.m. near Eastern Parkway and Kingston Avenue, yelling “Free Palestine” and “Do you want to die?” before stabbing the victim. According to Yaakov Beerman, a spokesman for the Chabad-Lubavitch sect.
Bearman wrote in The X that the man and the assailant had been arguing before the victim was stabbed.
The victim, a young Jewish man, was taken to hospital and is expected to recover, Bearman added.
Bystanders were able to hold the gunman in custody until police arrived and made an arrest, Bearman said.
It was not immediately clear what condition the victim, who had “longstanding ties to the community,” was in following the stabbing.
