While the first lady’s unwavering support for President Biden after his performance in Thursday’s debate was roundly criticized may seem commendable to some Americans, not all do.
Bill Stevenson, who was married to Jill Biden from 1970 to 1975, spoke candidly about his ex-wife in the interview. New York Post Saturday.
“The Dr. Jill Biden that I’ve seen on television for the last five years is not the person I married or the person I know,” Stevenson lamented. “She has morphed into a completely different woman.”
On Thursday, the first lady praised her husband’s debate performance, despite immediate calls for Biden to withdraw from the race.
After his disastrous debate performance, European officials appeared to liken Biden to a failed Roman emperor.

“Joe, you did a great job,” she told him at the debate afterparty. “You answered all the questions. You had all the facts.”
According to Stevenson, Jill Biden’s support for her husband doesn’t help matters at all.
“I don’t understand why she’s so insistent on defending him and trying to keep the campaign going when it seems like he’s struggling,” Stevenson said. “He seems to be struggling with everybody these days.”
“I was proud of her at one point. I don’t hate her. … I’m just amazed to see her come forward in the middle of this fight after being under the radar for so many years. She’s always been very driven. People are saying she’s the one who wants to be president now.”

Stevenson was also an ardent supporter of former President Trump and accused the current president of habitually lying.
“Every time he calls President Trump a liar it makes me cringe, because I’m going to tell you right now, there’s no one who’s a bigger liar than President Biden,” Stevenson said.
“He’s just a badass human being. I’m probably one of the few people outside of his family who’s known him for 50 years.”
Biden has faced intense public scrutiny after appearing frail and stumbling repeatedly during Thursday’s presidential debate, and on Friday the editorial board of The New York Times called on the 81-year-old Biden to withdraw from the race.

“Biden is not the same man he was four years ago,” the editorial board wrote. “The president emerged Thursday night as a shadow of the great public servant he was. He struggled to explain what he would accomplish in a second term. … [T]The biggest public service Biden can do now is to announce that he will not run for reelection.
The first lady’s office did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
