B’nai Brith International said in a statement Thursday that it was “surprised and disappointed” that President Joe Biden did not address the “growing threat of anti-Semitism” across the United States in his State of the Union address.

In a statement signed by the nonprofit’s president, Seth J. Riklin, and chief executive officer, Daniel S. Mariasin, the group cited Biden’s firm commitment to Israel’s “right to go after Hamas.” It acknowledged its support and added that it opposes any ceasefire agreement that would allow Hamas to rearm. .

“There can be neither Israeli security nor peace in the region as long as Hamas remains in power,” the group said. The statement also called for “the immediate release of all 134 remaining hostages held by Hamas.”

“It is despicable that 153 days after the abduction by Hamas terrorists, infants, children, women and men are still being held hostage. “Society must ensure that Hamas does not play a role in Gaza in the future,” the statement added.
